On June 24, 2021 the very first The Greatest Games Coaches Social was held at Miller’s Ale House in Paramus, NJ.  We can’t thank everyone enough for coming out and having a great time with us.  What an honor it was to connect with coaches, share stories and laugh together for a few hours.  The basketball community is special.  It is filled with kind, loving and competitive men and women, and to be able to have coaches under one roof, especially with the last year we have had was amazing.  Thank you for all your support of this show!

Mark Mitchell tells us all about his amazon journey from growing up on the streets of Newark, NJ to starting as a middle school coach to his current position as the Head Women’s Coach at St. Peter’s University. Coach Mitchell tells us all about how hard work and taking no shortcuts has led to his unbelievable success. To this day, Mitchell remains the only college basketball coach in the state of New Jersey (any level, men’s or women’s) to win a national championship, and he tells us all about the game to cap his team’s 33-0 season.

What a fun and unique episode this week. Ashley Cieplicki is the Head Women's basketball coach at Rutgers University-Newark and her husband Phil Stern is the AD and Head Women's basketball coach at The College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, New York. These two great coaches share how the role of a coach has changed even over the past decade in order to educate the entirety of each student-athlete they are responsible for. They also both have great championship games they tell us about: Cieplicki winning her first NJAC tournament championship and Stern winning the America East conference while coaching at UMBC, for the first NCAA tournament appearance in school history.
